I'm the aunt & have 2 nieces under the age of 10 (10 & 8 to be exact). I'm going to be up there for nearly 2 weeks around Christmas holiday. My sister, their mother, never really spends quality time with them, and when she is, it usually consists of yelling at them. On many occasions, my nieces have told me they wish I was their mom, since I'm pretty nuturing & loving towards them. I want some good ideas of spending time with them while i'm there...I'd like to take them on a few fun, yet inexpensive adventures while visiting - something special that they can remember about this Christmas. I don't want to take them to "the mall" - as it seems quite a popular thing to do. Does anyone have any ideas for me? If it helps, I will be spending Christmas in the Cedar Falls, Iowa area.
